Leans Toward Missouri T Armand Membou at No. 7 and Tight End in Round 2
As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, mock drafts have consistently linked the New York Jets to Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou or Penn State tight end Tyler Warren with the No. 7 overall pick. NFL Network lead draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah weighed in on the decision-making process and said that general manager Darren Mougey is in a favorable position either way.
Jeremiah’s Take on the Jets’ Options at No. 7
“When you’re sitting there at No. 7, you’re in a good spot to get someone who can come in and make an immediate impact,” Jeremiah said. “They could complete the offensive line with someone like Membou, who could step right in at right tackle. What has been a long journey to fix the offensive line could be almost finished with him.”
Membou has been a mainstay at right tackle for Missouri, starting the last three seasons and earning All-SEC honors in 2024. He wrapped up his college career with 30 consecutive starts.
Although Membou could fill the right tackle vacancy left by Morgan Moses (who signed with the Patriots in the offseason), Jeremiah is higher on a pair of pass catchers than Membou.
Jeremiah’s Preference for Tight Ends
“If they stay true to the best player available approach, I would take Tyler Warren, and I wouldn’t hesitate to take Colston Loveland either,” Jeremiah said. “I think both of those guys are worthy of being selected at No. 7.”
Warren, the 2024 Mackey Award winner, had an outstanding season at Penn State, leading the Big Ten with 104 receptions, 1,233 receiving yards, and 12 total touchdowns. He also contributed 40 wildcat snaps for the Nittany Lions.
Loveland, who played at Michigan, had a more challenging 2024 season due to injuries and did not participate in the NFL Combine or Pro Day. Despite having fewer career receiving yards than Warren (1,466 yards to Warren’s 1,839), Loveland is considered a more natural pass catcher.
Jeremiah grades Warren as his No. 6 overall prospect and Loveland as No. 7, both higher than Membou, who ranks No. 12.
What’s Next for the Jets at Pick No. 42?
Jeremiah believes that offensive tackle options will be limited by the time the Jets select again at No. 42. “I think Josh Simmons (Ohio State) and Josh Conerly (Oregon) will be gone,” he said. “Then you get into tackles like Ozzy Trapilo (Boston College), who might be a starting right tackle but could be a reach at this point. There’s also the raw upside of players like Charles Grant (William & Mary), but he’s more of a third-round guy.”
If the Jets want to package their picks together, Jeremiah believes there are better tight end options in the second round than tackle options. This could lead them to focus on fixing the offensive line at No. 7, with a prospect like Membou or Texas’ Kelvin Banks. Then, they could target a tight end like Miami’s Elijah Arroyo in Round 2, giving them a much-needed upgrade at the position.
